Fantastic Fungi

Some of you may know Paul Stamets from the 2019 documentary “Fantastic Fungi”. If you are interested in exploring the interconnection between all living things on earth and having a better grasp on mushrooms all together I would highly recommend checking it out (I think it is on Netflix). However, if you do not know Paul Stamets, he is one of the leading American Mycologists and has dedicated his life to exploring the habitats, medicinal uses, and production of mushrooms. Stamets has authored multiple books advocating for the respect of this universal system that covers the earth. Just as Native Plants are keystones of building back biodiversity, fungi is a bridge between the health of an ecosystem and the animals that make it up. Stamets philosophy “MycoDiversity is BioSecurity” is the same message we are teaching here. Implementing native plants and creating gardens and meadows where lawns are will bring value to our communities by creating more space and nourishment for species to thrive. A thriving Fungi population equals a thriving animal population. We must create these spaces to combat the consequences of climate change and prevent more species from going extinct. Below I have linked a very interesting reprint of a Paul Stamets article “The 6th Great Extinction is Happening Now” on the Ecological Landscape Alliance. Here we learn about the history of the world and how fungi is really the workhorse of the environmental floor, and how all things are interconnected.
