BB is hiring college and high school students for summer ‘23!

This year we will combine Arlington, Belmont, and Cambridge students into one session, where youth will travel/work around Arlington and Belmont on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and spend Wednesdays and Fridays in Cambridge for field trips, guest speakers, and entrepreneurship lessons. The program will run from July 5-August 11th.

We are hiring 2 college mentors and 16 high school students; 6 from Arlington, 6 from Belmont, and 4 from Cambridge MSYEP. If you are someone who wants to make an impact in your community, loves the outdoors, and wants to learn more about native plants our program is for you!

Biodiversity Builders℠ pays students to…

  • Design and build native plant gardens of all sizes

  • Remove invasive plants that disrupt food webs and habitats

  • Run a business selling native plants and garden services to property owners

  • Feel represented by learning from different environmental community members

  • Have fun on environmental field trips to different conservation areas inside and outside of the city

  • Apply skills and individuality to a self-directed project

  • Share their experiences with peers and adults

  • Explore nature-based solutions to biodiversity loss, climate change, and environmental injustice
