Who We Are

Jean Devine is the creator, networking genius, muscle, and big-picture idea woman behind Devine Native Plantings and Biodiversity Builders (SM). Skye Schirmer is the behind-the scenes project manager, designer of all sorts, and administrator who keeps both businesses running while Jean is in the field. Learn more about us below!

Our Mission

To build pollinator pathways throughout the Metro West Boston region. To do this, we create native plant gardens of all sizes — from sidewalk strips to private yards, to school/church grounds, to meadows. Along the way, we enlighten people about the power of nature-based solutions to biodiversity loss and climate change.

What People Are Saying

“I love working with Jean. She is smart, passionate, knowledgeable and fun and she shares all of this with our teens, inspiring them to join in too, in working to make our natural world a healthier place.”

— Cathie Zusy, President, Magazine Beach Partners, Inc. (Cambridge)

“I pondered the same patch of barely surviving grass for a decade. We reached out, and Jean came to our rescue. Now we have plants, butterflies, bees, hummingbirds, paths, and it's lovely. No raking, no mowing. It's better for us, the neighborhood, and the planet. What a transformation!”

— The Wheelers, residential clients (Arlington)
